Hi there, I’m Lachlan
I’m a software engineer based in Melbourne, Australia, with over a decade of experience in tech. I graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2013 with a Bachelor of Computing, originally starting in a combined Computing and Sciences degree before focusing on what I truly loved—software.
After uni, I moved to Melbourne and landed my first role with a brilliant and creative team in South Melbourne. Since then, I’ve worked across fintech, startups, and a fast-growing BNPL company, gaining experience in both structured corporate environments and fast-paced, high-growth teams. These days, I’m working in EduTech in Hawthorn, building tools that help schools succeed every day.
What I love most about software is the power to improve lives—making things easier, faster, and more accurate. It’s a space where you can be creative while still following structure, standards, and best practices that are recognised worldwide. I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible teams that push each other to do their best, and I value how globally connected this industry is—you can build great things from almost anywhere.
I’m especially grateful for the diverse and talented people I’ve worked with—many of whom have migrated to Australia and brought fresh perspectives to the table. I’ve been given time and trust to dive deep into topics like security, privacy, and legal frameworks, and I’ve had increasing autonomy to guide my own work, supported by mentors whose advice still sticks with me.

MapMyPhotos was an innovative mobile and web-based platform that transformed photo collections into interactive, shareable maps. Founded by Lachlan Pearce in Melbourne, Australia, the app empowered users to visually document their journeys and connect with a global community of photography enthusiasts.
Users could effortlessly upload images, geotag them, and organize their memories into themed collections or treks. The platform offered features like AI-driven photo search, customizable privacy settings, and 'Shutter Squads'—private or public groups for sharing moments with friends and family. Additionally, MapMyPhotos served as a secure photo cloud solution, ensuring memories were safely stored and easily accessible.

ChronoSheets: Smart Timesheets
Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Melbourne, ChronoSheets was a flexible timesheet solution designed for small to medium businesses. The platform simplified time tracking through automation features like geofencing, QR codes, and NFC, enabling employees to log hours effortlessly across web, mobile, and desktop devices. Managers benefited from comprehensive reporting tools that provided insights into employee time tracking, company file attachments, fleet metrics, and geofence activity.
ChronoSheets was free to sign up and ad-free, supporting up to three employees without requiring a credit card. Its mobile apps for iOS and Android allowed users to record timesheets, attach receipts and documents, and transcribe meeting audio into searchable text. All data was securely backed up to the cloud, ensuring accessibility and peace of mind.
It also offered AI-driven tools that analyzed anonymous employee check-ins, summarizing sentiments to help HR teams understand workforce satisfaction trends.
Drone Surveyor: Easy Aerial Maps
Drone Surveyor was an innovative Australian software solution that empowered drone pilots to capture high-resolution aerial imagery for land surveying, agriculture, and environmental monitoring. Developed by Lachlan Pearce, the app was compatible with a wide range of DJI drones, including the Mavic, Phantom, Inspire, and Matrice series.
The app enabled users to define custom flight paths, adjust altitude and speed, and automate image capture for creating detailed orthomosaic maps. It also offered mission saving and re-execution features, along with a mission gallery for reviewing and processing images.
With over 10,000 downloads and a 3.6-star rating on Google Play, Drone Surveyor was a cost-effective tool for professionals seeking efficient aerial data collection.

MusicPowered was a dynamic platform designed to help musicians and bands establish a compelling online presence without the need for coding skills. Its all-in-one solution enabled artists to share their music, sell merchandise and digital products, and connect with fans effortlessly.
